Our oenologists' opinion
Well-rounded
Straightforward nose of grilled spices, herbs, liquorice and tobacco.
Opens with aromas of undergrowth.
Supple attack, round and well-balanced. Frankly greedy, with a character of spices, toasted wood and caramel, with hints of cocoa and bitterness.
Supple, silky tannins.

Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Domain and appellation
-
Written over two centuries by three families of owners, the history of Château Montrose embodies their legacy and vision. The estate owes its strong foundations to them, shaping the unique image and status of Montrose among exceptional wines.
The 95-hectare vineyard, remarkably and historically unified in a single plot, is a rare and extraordinary feature.
In 2006, brothers Martin and Olivier Bouygues acquired Château Montrose, succeeding the Charmolüe dynasty, and continued the legacy of this prestigious estate. Ranked as a Second Grand Cru in the 1855 classification, Montrose remains an unmissable icon in the world of fine wines.
