Fruity and well-rounded

The nose is woody, with notes of black fruit coulis, caramel, black pepper and a touch of tobacco.

Supple on the palate, with a pleasant envelope and fairly supple tannins.

Medium-bodied, with a roasted character.

Full-bodied finish with hints of roasting.

Pleasant persistence, with wild berry aromas and a hint of sapid bitterness.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

    The Syrah grape, with its beautiful dark blue-black berries, is known for the fruit-driven aromatic complexity of the wines it produces.

     

    Originating from the Northern Rhône, it thrives under the Mediterranean climate of the Pays d’Oc, particularly in the cooler terroirs of the vineyard that provide excellent concentration. For its Syrah Grande Réserve, Maison Castel specifically chose the late-ripening terroirs of the Hérault hinterland.

     

    In the northeast vineyards of Béziers, as well as on the Villafranchian terraces, a meticulous selection of parcels with complementary qualities is carried out.
