Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Domain and appellation
-
The Château du Gazin estate is located in the northeast of Bordeaux, 5 km from Libourne, close to the Saint-Émilion and Pomerol appellations. It clings to the slopes of a beautiful valley that cuts through the Fronsadais plateau.
This former seigneurie was built in 1532 and, after being destroyed, was rebuilt in 1715, with only the original dovecote being preserved. The estate was acquired in 1935 by Georges Robert, originally from Burgundy.
After being demobilized in Libourne at the end of World War I, he first established a wine trading business before acquiring the Château du Gazin.
His nephew Henri succeeded him in the late 1960s.
For the past 20 years, Georges-Antoine, the 3rd generation, has been enhancing this superb terroir.
