Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Pale straw colour with pale gold highlights. Open, distinctive nose with notes of oyster shell, fresh ginger and fresh butter. Round, balanced, elegant attack, with iodine and mineral notes and freshness, followed by notes of candied citrus fruit. Spicy, fleshy, full-bodied finish, with minerality and spices, good persistence and a hint of lemon.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Do you know ?

Château Olivier has belonged to the Bethmann family since 1886. Undergoing organic conversion, the first certified vintage will be 2024.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU OLIVIER

From the knights of the Hundred Years' War to the philosophers of the Enlightenment, this ancient seigneury has seen a succession of men with very distinctive characters. A vestige of history, the wines of Château Olivier have been classified as Grands Crus since 1953. Terroir: Spread over 60 hectares, this vineyard lies on gravelly soil with a clay-limestone subsoil. The Sauvignon grapes are expressive and very fruity, with aromas of peach and white flowers, while the Semillon grapes add fullness and roundness. Rich and vibrant on the palate, the wine has a deep structure, marked by tension and purity.
