Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
The higher the planting density of a vineyard, the more concentrated the berries are in sugar and aroma. This is because the vines are stimulated by the increased competition between them and concentrate their sugar content. The trend in some vineyards is therefore to increase the density per vine.

CHÂTEAU FERRANDE
This former manor house, renovated in the 19th century and then bought by the Castel family in 1992, has state-of-the-art facilities.
Terroir: The 94-hectare estate is planted on gravelly soil, rich in sand, with a mix of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon and Sauvignon.
Viticulture: The planting density is high, with an average of 9000 vines per hectare, so as to guarantee berries that are always concentrated in sugar.
Vinification: The winery has a high-tech press that allows the juice to be extracted gently. The technique used differs according to the grape variety. The Merlot grapes are vinified in such a way as to enhance their fruitiness, while the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are vinified in such a way as to refine their structure. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of between 28 and 30°C. The wines are aged for 12 to 14 months in oak barrels, 30% of which are new.
