Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
The type of oak selected to make the barrels has a major influence on the winemaking process. Its species and origin will give the wines different aromas and structures. In France, wood from the Tronçais forest in the Allier region is often used to make the barrels for the greatest Bordeaux wines.

Château Haut Rian
Located in the Entre-deux-Mers wine region of Bordeaux in the communes of Rions, Béguey, and Soulignac, Château Haut-Rian produces white wines under the Entre-deux-Mers appellation, reds under the Cadillac Côtes-de-Bordeaux appellation and rosés under the Bordeaux Rosé appellation. Terroir: The 80-hectare vineyard extends over south and south-east facing slopes with a relatively hot and dry climate. Its clay-limestone soil has some gravelly ridges and allows for a grape variety composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Since 2017, parcels of Petit Verdot and Malbec have also been added to the vineyard. Viticulture: Coming from the commune of Rions, the vines selected for the red wine are on average 30 years old and grow on a mainly limestone soil allowing a predominance of merlot. Vinification: In the cellar, the grapes macerate in vats for 2 to 3 weeks with regular and gentle pumping over.
