Our oenologists' opinion

Well-rounded

On the nose, it has a minty freshness with hints of eucalyptus, which evolve into aromas of jammy red fruit.

On the palate, the wine is well-balanced and cleanly expressed.

The wine is full-bodied and has an assertive character, although its tannins are a little strict, lacking fat and body.

The finish is slightly longer, underlining its structure.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

Located to the south of Santiago, the Central Valley is Chile's flagship wine-growing region.

A combination of factors, such as its semi-arid climate, poor soils, constant irrigation and the wide temperature range between day and night, make the Central Valley an ideal region for wine production.

Domain and appellation

  • Baron Philippe de Rothschild

Combine the ancestral expertise of the Philippe de Rothschild estate with the powerful identity of the Chilean terroir to create a range of unique and distinctive wines.

Terroir: Located in the Central Valley, the Maipo Valley is composed of diverse soils. Its vines face north, benefiting from cool night temperatures.

Viticulture: Both a producer and grower, the Philippe de Rothschild estate also purchases grapes through partnerships with local producers. Grapes are hand-picked and carefully transported in small crates to the winery.

Vinification: Though fermentation time varies between tanks, it is typically extended to create a balanced tannic structure. The wine then matures for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 20% new oak and 60% one-year-old barrels.

  1. Valery

Très belle expérience, vin chaleureux, sur des fruits noirs, j’aime beaucoup, très belle surprise . Avec du tanin, une longueur en bouche.
