Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Dark garnet colour with tiled highlights. Clean nose with a bouquet of smoke, leather, brandy chocolate, toasted bread notes and a hint of blackberry jam. Supple attack, good balance, tension, freshness, gourmand, finesse. Supple, typical cherry brandy character, good persistence. Taut, sapid finish without heaviness.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

The Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée awarded to Morey-Saint-Denis in 1935 has given this little-known terroir greater recognition.

Domain and appellation

  • JOSEPH DROUHIN

Located a few kilometres north of Nuits-Saint-Georges, between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, this terroir produces five Grands Crus and twenty Premiers Crus. A truly great wine, appreciated by connoisseurs for the diversity of its aromas. A beautiful ruby colour, a seductive nose dominated by Morello cherry aromas, spicy notes evolving towards leather. The palate is sustained, with fine, noble tannins. The finish is full and fruity.
