Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Dark garnet colour with black tints. The nose is open and complex, with notes of candied pepper, raspberry coulis, blackcurrant and a hint of menthol. Supple, fleshy attack of fresh blackcurrant, long, fat tannins, good chewiness. Velvety finish of candied pepper and fresh plum. Good balance, powerful, typical, good persistence, hint of acidity, good openness.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • LIONEL OSMIN & CIE

Hidden away in the heart of the Aveyron is the Marcillac appellation. Its 200 hectares of vines are planted with the unique Mansois grape, also known as Fer Servadou. With its terraced landscapes and red soils, Marcillac is one of the most beautiful wine-growing areas in France. It is also the most northerly vineyard in the South-West, in the foothills of the Massif Central.
