Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

The nose is open, with notes of red fruit au gratin, young leather and laurel, and a hint of bitter cocoa.

Supple attack, satiny tannins, tension, finesse; fairly complex finish, with notes of plum, stones and undergrowth, fairly typical, frank, pleasant persistence.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Designed in the 19th century, the Château's exuberant architecture was intended to hide its cellars.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU DES FINES ROCHES

Located between Sorgues and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château des Fines Roches stands out for its medieval-style architecture, featuring battlements, machicolations, and mullioned windows dating from the 19th century. The estate has been owned by the Mousset family since 1932.

    • Terroir: Spanning 45 hectares, the estate is situated on a pebble soil with a subsoil of clay.

    • Viticulture: The vines, averaging 40 years old, are composed of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Muscardin, and Mourvèdre.

    • Vinification: The wine is aged in foudres for 12 months following a 21-day fermentation in stainless steel tanks. This wine is a version of Châteauneuf-du-Pape that emphasizes softness and subtlety. Its nose opens with aromas of morello cherry and garrigue.
