Our oenologists' opinion

Well-rounded

Beautiful yellow gold colour with old gold highlights. The nose is open, frank, with notes of toasted wood, white flowers and white pepper, rather rustic. Supple attack, quite full-bodied, with yellow flowers, melted butter and leather, a little tension, good balance. Full-bodied finish, with white pepper and salted butter, medium persistence, good staying power for 1998...

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • DOMAINE JEAN-MARC BROCARD

Located in the heart of the Chablis vineyards, the family estate was founded in 1973 by Jean-Marc Brocard, who has since been joined by his son Julien. The estate spans nearly 144 hectares, 66 of which are certified organic.

Precision, strength, and freshness define the Brocard signature, a unique style found in each wine from the Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru appellations, which are exported to nearly 50 countries.

    • Precision: the true expression of the terroir, the soil’s memory carried from vine to wine, the pure typicity of the Chablis subsoil, sedimented by the sea during the Jurassic era.

    • Strength: a structured, powerful wine, long on the palate, showcasing the complexity of the terroir.

    • Freshness: a natural acidity, born from the terroir’s minerality, giving the wine its distinctive tension and signature.
