Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

The straightforward nose is intense with aromas of candied exotic fruit, enhanced by a hint of hydrocarbons and roasted pineapple.

On the palate, the attack is full-bodied, combining tension and balance.

The lingering finish is richly flavoured with candied mango, roasted pineapple and lychee.

The finish is long and lingering, elegantly prolonging the sunny, exotic character of this wine.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Do you know ?

Late harvests (an appellation since 1984) are harvested several weeks after the grapes have been picked. Unlike some sweet wines, they retain their freshness and natural acidity in a flavour that is unique in the world.

Domain and appellation

  • DOMAINE SCHLUMBERGER

Our Gewurztraminer comes exclusively from our Grand Cru Kessler. Careful monitoring begins with the winter pruning of the vines and continues through to the harvest. The grapes, hand-picked from our slopes, are transported in crates to avoid damaging the berries and are then slowly pressed in our cellars.

After a settling period of around 3 days, the perfectly clear juices are fermented in large oak vats, with strict temperature control.

Fermentation lasts 1 to 3 months, continuing until spring. The wines are then stabilised, filtered, and finally bottled.
