Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Dark garnet colour with brick tints. The nose is open, delicious and complex, with notes of plum and blueberry jam and a hint of vanilla. Supple, satiny attack, long, fat tannins, fullness, finesse. Character: blueberry, black cherry and cocoa, full-bodied, fine, full-bodied. Full-bodied finish, tannins still young and in need of ageing, lingering cocoa and black fruit flavours.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU MONT REDON

The Abeille-Fabre family has owned Château Mont-Redon in Châteauneuf du Pape since 1923. The appellation area is located on the left bank of the Rhône, between Orange and Avignon. Three types of terroir are used to make this wine: the Mont-Redon plateau terroir, composed of large rounded pebbles. The Urgonian limestone terroir is made up of white, angular pebbles. Finally, the safre terroir (compact sands) of Mont-Redon. Only the best of these three terroirs is used to blend the wine, ensuring the complexity and consistency of the Mont-Redon style.
