Our oenologists' opinion
Powerful bouquet
Dark brick colour with mahogany highlights. Open nose with notes of fur, cocoa and burnt caramel, and a hint of old plum. Supple, velvety attack with mellow tannins. Character based on red fruit gratin and notes of coffee grounds. Powerful finish, with a lingering hint of mocha.

Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

CHÂTEAU CHANTALOUETTE
Château Chantalouette is the second wine of Château de Sales. This historic estate, by far the largest in Pomerol, has been in the same family for five centuries and boasts the only true château in the appellation. The vines are grown in the traditional way: the soil is regularly ploughed, the vineyard is cultivated with respect for the environment, and leaf thinning and green harvesting are meticulously practised. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness for each plot. The wine is vinified gently, perfectly expressing its terroir. During ageing, traditional racking and light fining with egg whites help to preserve all the freshness of the fruit.
