DOUDET NAUDIN
To the south of the Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet shares with Puligny the undisputed prince of all dry white wines: the divine Montrachet (pronounced Mon-rachet). This broad, beautiful hillside is home to two of Burgundy's finest grape varieties. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay flourish here side by side because of the complexity of the terroirs. Large marble stone quarries form a rock face: in Paris, the Trocadero and more recently the Louvre Pyramid use this stone for pink or beige paving. The Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée dates back to 1937. It also covers a number of vines in the neighbouring village of Remigny, in continuity with the terroir.
