Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

The nose is open and greedy, revealing notes of candied plum, vanilla, strawberry coulis and raspberry jam, offering a certain complexity.

The attack is supple, fleshy, greedy and frank, dominated by red fruit coulis, with good balance and long, fat tannins.

The wine lingers well, marked by red fruit coulis, with a light floral touch, sweet spices and a hint of sweetness.

Features

Body The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

Namesake of the famous Mont, where the equally famous chapel sits, Brouilly is the Beaujolais cru for which winegrowers and producers dedicate the most vineyard surface.

As the first cru on the Beaujolais wine route when leaving Lyon towards Mâcon, Brouilly is synonymous with colour, character, and firmness.

We cultivate 3.8 hectares of Gamay on flat land facing south, between Saburin, Saint-Pierre, La Commune, and Briante, to produce this cru with its typical ruby-red robe.

Hand-harvested, the grape bunches arrive intact in our vats to create a supple and refined wine.
