Our oenologists' opinion
Well-rounded
Dark garnet colour with brick tints. Open nose, bouquet, spicy, then notes of red fruit gratins, pepper, fur, nutmeg, hint of cocoa. Velvety attack, long and fat tannins, small envelope, small character on pepper and stewed red fruits. The finish is sapid, velvety, with roasted red fruits, cocoa and spices, medium persistence. Nice freshness

Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
The name of our second wine is a tribute to Baron Jacques-Maxime de Brane, owner of the vineyard in the 19th century.
Domain and appellation
-
BRANE
Called Hostein in the 18th century, this large vineyard was later bought by the Gorce family, and was producing one of the Médoc's most famous wines long before the 1855 classification.
Each plot and sub-plot has unique characteristics, making it more suitable for certain grape varieties. At Brane, the grape varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (40%), Cabernet Franc (4.5%) and Carmenère (0.5%). The vineyard is constantly micro-managed with one objective: to produce the highest quality grapes while keeping yields low. The replanting efforts of recent years and a transition to organic viticulture demonstrate our strong commitment to sustainable viticulture.
