Powerful bouquet

Frank nose of roasted spices, cocoa, mocha, notes of fresh leather and fur, hint of jammy black fruit.

 

Supple on the palate, full-bodied, well-balanced, with a lovely gourmet character of black fruit au gratin, a hint of peppermint, good flavour persistence, a hint of flinty minerality, fat, smooth tannins.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

    In 2007, Pierre Gaillard settled in Faugères, captivated by the charm of the Cévennes, its garrigue, and the many hillsides hidden within. In recent years, his son, Pierre-Antoine, has gradually been taking over.

     

    Driven by the same desire to faithfully express the terroirs, he produces authentic wines.

     

    The wines of Cottebrune, a 14-hectare vineyard, are distinctly Mediterranean with hints of garrigue. The Gaillard touch and the mineral structure provided by the schist are always evident.
