Powerful bouquet

Amber colour, old gold and shiny. Pretty fine and fruity nose of lychee, citrus fruit, notes of vanilla sugar and brioche wood. Nice balance on a full-bodied whisky, frank, finesse, elegant, round, notes of yellow fruit, baked apple and finely toasted bread. Good length, straightforward and quite fresh.

Caractéristiques

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

The Cardhu distillery is part of the “Classic Malts Selection”. Created in 1987, it is a selection of 11 Scottish Single Malts, a result of the expertise of the iconic distilleries of the Diageo, representing the country’s different production regions.

Le domaine et l'appellation

  • Cardhu

    Here is a single malt developed by a double maceration. The first is done using bourbon and sherry barrels, the second is done with American oak barrels. Its name, inspired by the golden color of the liquid, refers to the precious amber stone.
    Founded by John Cumming in 1824 acting illegally, the Cardhu distillery has since been replaced by a new one built in 1872 and renovated in 1887. Nowadays, the distillery is ran by the Diageo group and produces a whiskey that is the principal ingredient of the well-known whiskey Johnnie Walker.
