Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Deep garnet colour. Rather typical nose of blackcurrant, green pepper, floral hints. Balanced, fruity, tannins already quite supple and round. Long, fruity and frank.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Maison Castel

Maison Castel is giving you, with its Grande Réserve selection, a wide range of reputed grape varieties from the region Pays d’Oc, in the south of France. Those vintages are selected and vinified with special attention. Will you be able to spot the differences between them?

    • Terroir: Selected among the soils of Pays d’Oc is distinguished by the protected geographical indication. The Pays d’Oc, because of its diversity of soils and its Mediterranean climate, permit the vintage to reveal its potential and its aromatic palette.
    • Vinification : The selection of grapes and the particular attention during the wine making process are the origin of the character and the elegance of this wine. The juice of drop and the press juice are separated and then settling. The musts are decanted and fermented between 15 and 17 ° C to favor the tropical aromas. The wines are aged on lees for 2 to 3 months which gives them more volume in the mouth and aromatic complexity.
