Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Domain and appellation
-
CHÂTEAU BELLERIVE
Château Bellerive is located in the heart of the Quarts-de-Chaume appellation, on the left bank of the Loire.
- Terroir: Cultivated exclusively with Chenin Blanc, the Chenin rows are protected from northern winds and face south on the schist slopes that descend steeply towards the Layon. During autumn nights, they bathe in the river's humidity. These conditions are ideal for the development of botrytis (noble rot) on the grapes.
- Viticulture: The harvest is manual, with selection made through successive tries.
- Vinification: The vinification at Château Bellerive is traditional, with a slow fermentation at low temperature in barrels.
