Our oenologists' opinion
Powerful wine with potential
Black colour with garnet highlights. Woody nose. Opens with roasted black fruit, spices, liquorice, grilled cocoa and mocha. Fleshy attack, body, balance. Frankly austere aftertaste, young but with potential.

Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

GÉRARD BERTRAND
The Château l'Hospitalet vineyard benefits from exceptional climatic conditions. The warmth and sunshine, mitigated by the altitudinal gradient, provide opportunities for slow ripening from September to October, favouring aromatic expression and fine tannins. The Hospitalitas parcel, located in the heart of the vineyard at the base of a 30-metre cliff which protects it from the north wind, benefits from a micro-climate. The exceptional character of this cuvée comes from the fact that the parcel lies on the two terroirs that make up our vineyard: the marl-limestone soils of the Gargasian, rich in fossils, which provide the vines with a supply of water throughout the summer despite the absence of summer rainfall; and the red Mediterranean soils of the Barremian, formed on the compact bluish-grey limestone conquered from the garrigue, which enable us to produce rich, concentrated wines.
