Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Dark garnet colour with brick tints. Open nose, mentholated, notes of blond tobacco, spices and cigar, hint of leather. Supple attack, with smoky notes, tension, long and fat tannins, small envelope. Character on candied pepper and spices, mineral touch. Powerful, full-bodied finish on dark chocolate and candied pepper, nice persistence on old leather.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU LA LAGUNE 2015

Classified as a 3rd Grand Cru in 1855, Château La Lagune dates back to the 18th century with the Seguineau family. In 1999, the Frey family bought Château La Lagune, and it was Caroline Frey who created the Mademoiselle L wine when she took over the management of the estate in 2004.

Terroir: The 80-hectare estate lies on gravelly hilltops.
Viticulture: The estate practices integrated viticulture. The grapes are harvested by hand.
Vinification: A parcel-based vinification is favoured. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (55% new).
