Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and well-rounded
The wine has a dark, clear, brilliant garnet-red colour with purple highlights.
The nose is straightforward and delicious, with floral notes of peony and candied red fruit, followed by mineral nuances.
The attack is supple, with roundness and good balance.
The character is frank and greedy, with good persistence on the palate.

Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
Chénas may be the smallest of the crus, but it is nonetheless one of the great Beaujolais wines.

DOMAINE DOMINIQUE PIRON
D. Piron crafts a range of wines that spans from the most traditional to the most innovative, driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence, style, and elegance.
The “Volcanic” cuvée highlights the granite and quartz-rich soils of the appellation. This wine boasts complexity, fruit-forward notes, minerality, and spicy undertones, with an impressively long finish. Its finesse makes it an ideal pairing for world cuisine.
The terroir, characterised by poor, rocky granite-quartz soils, is managed using sustainable viticulture. Hand harvesting and meticulous sorting both in the vineyard and on a sorting table ensure top-quality grapes. With a planting density of 10,000 vines/ha and a low yield of 40 hl/ha, the wine achieves excellent concentration.
The winemaking process involves 80% destemming and a long fermentation (15 to 17 days) with regular punch-downs and pump-overs to enhance extraction. The wine is then partially aged in barrels, adding depth and complexity to its profile.
