Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

CHÂTEAU TROTANOY
This illustrious cru, whose name in old French meant ‘too anoi’ or ‘too boring’ (when working the land), is situated on one of the best exposed parts of the famous Pomerol plateau and was acquired in 1953 by Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix, who have been operating the estate ever since.
The mix of soils - half gravel on clay and half deep black clay - on a bed of iron dross gives the wine both power and depth, as well as great complexity.
The vineyard, which was partly spared the dramatic frosts of 1956, has an average age of 35 years. It is cultivated in the traditional way (regular ploughing, thinning, leaf removal) and harvested ideally in two or three afternoons.
Fermentation takes place in cement vats and the young wine is then matured in oak barrels, half of which are renewed each vintage.
