Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHATEAU RAUZAN SEGLA

Second Grand Cru Classé, Château Rauzan-Ségla is located in the Margaux AOC in Gironde. Ségla comes from the young vines of the estate. The château has been owned by the Wertheimer family since 1994, who also own the prestigious Chanel brand.

    • Terroir: The vineyard spans 66 hectares on a terroir of fine and deep gravel.

    • Viticulture: The vines are pruned “à la bordelaise” in double Guyot. From disbudding to leaf thinning, special care is given to the vines. Green harvesting is practiced, and the harvest is done manually.

    • Vinification: The vinification processes and aging conditions are identical to those of its elder sibling, Château Rauzan-Ségla.

A 10-day alcoholic fermentation is followed by a maceration at 28°C for up to 3 weeks in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged in barrels for 15 months (with 20% new).
