Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose is straightforward, revealing aromas of blackcurrant coulis with hints of wood and vanilla.

Opening with black pepper, the attack is supple, offering good roundness and balance.

The wine has a straightforward character, with minerality and a long, fruity finish that lasts.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • BARTON & GUESTIER

Château Magnol, the embodiment of elegance, silky and exquisite. Located in the Haut-Médoc near Bordeaux, this vineyard enjoys sandy and gravelly soils alongside a temperate and humid oceanic climate. With limited yields and manual cultivation, the vineyard minimises interference in the natural ripening process of the grapes.

The vinification process includes de-stemming, optical sorting, crushing, controlled alcoholic fermentation between 22 and 26°C with rack-and-return and pump-overs, followed by malolactic fermentation.

The wine then ages for 12 months in French oak barrels (350 litres, 30% new oak). It reveals a deep, intense ruby colour with an aromatic richness displaying a wide array of aromas, complemented by subtle spice notes for depth and complexity.

Full-bodied with excellent black fruit concentration, this vintage’s fine, well-integrated tannins and lively acidity offer a long ageing potential of over 10 years. An exceptional vintage.
