Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and crisp

A lovely, expressive nose, combining aromas of passion fruit and citrus zest, followed by mineral notes reminiscent of shellfish.

The lively attack, marked by a lovely freshness and elegant tension, reveals a straightforward wine with perfect balance.

Despite a hint of warmth, it remains fairly full-bodied, revealing a lovely, well-signed character.

The oak is more present than the acidity, providing a fine structure.

The finish is straightforward and distinctive, leaving a lasting impression of finesse and power.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU FERRANDE

At Château Ferrande, the 2021 vintage was demanding and educational, with some very pleasant surprises. 2021, a vintage of patience and high standards!

    • A start to winter marked by alternating cool and mild periods.

    • In April, a historic frost event which significantly reduced the harvest.

    • A very rainy spring, followed by a summer that was slow to settle and generally quite cool.

    • A very fine late season in September and October, beneficial for maintaining the aromatic freshness of the grapes and achieving a perfect balance of acidity and alcohol.
