Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

The nose is straightforward, marked by greedy, woody, mocha aromas, which evolve into hints of roasted plum and herbs, offering a fine typicity.

The attack is fleshy, enveloping and well-balanced.

The finish is frank and greedy, revealing a typical character dominated by roasted black fruit, mocha and grilled spices.

Good persistence, ensuring a tasty, structured finish.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • This estate was founded in 1960 on the site known as "Les Crès Ricards" in the commune of Ceyras. In 2010, Jean-Claude Mas acquired the 27 hectares of the château, expanding it to 42 hectares in 2013.

He is captivated by the exceptional terroir of the Terrasses du Larzac, renowned for producing wines with velvety textures and intense aromas.

At the foot of Mont Baudile, the vineyard boasts a unique geography, featuring red soil, schist, and rolled pebbles. The low yields and strict berry selection result in generous, high-quality wines.

In 2012, Jean-Claude Mas purchased surrounding vineyards, bringing the total area of Les Crès Ricards to 42 hectares.
