Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Black with garnet highlights. Frank nose of candied spices and cocoa. Opens with aromas of roasted plum and liquorice. Supple attack with roundness and balance. Round, silky tannins for a long, clean finish. Frankly greedy character of roasted black fruit. Good spicy persistence.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

The history of the Beyrac family goes back to the 3rd crusade. Bertrand de Beyrac is said to have sent 3 barrels of his "costes" to the crusaders.

Domain and appellation

  • Les Vignerons de Buzet

The history of the Buzet appellation illustrates the undeniable strength of wine cooperatives. Founded in 1953, the cooperative Les Vignerons de Buzet gave its eponymous wines a future when it obtained the A.O.C. in 1973. Terroir : Covering 2000 hectares, the Buzet appellation benefits from unique climatic and geological conditions. The vineyards are planted on soils composed of clay, gravel, silty boulbènes and clayey terrefort. Some vines reach heights of over 150 metres. Viticulture: The cooperative's viticultural practices are in line with a sustainable approach. The vines are grassed and chemical fertilisers are banned. Vinification: Respect for the environment is pursued in the cellar and the winery with the installation of photovoltaic panels, the halving of water use and the implementation of new vinification methods without added sulphites.
