Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and well-rounded
Black colour with garnet highlights. Straightforward nose of blackcurrant syrup, thyme and grilled spices. Opens on candied red fruit. Full-bodied attack, round tannins, frank character with notes of pepper, blackcurrant, mocha and grilled spices. Good persistence, fresh, minty, supple finish.

Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

CHEVAL NOIR
The Saint-Emilion terroir, which is made up of clay-limestone and siliceous and gravelly soils, combined with the growing method, produces fine, fruity wines that are consistent from one year to the next. Since 2010, Hubert de Boüard, oenologist and co-owner of Château Angélus, a neighbour of Cheval Noir, has been involved in the production of Cheval Noir Saint-Émilion wines, bringing his expertise and know-how. Once selected, the different batches are blended and matured with the aim of preserving the fruit, balance and roundness. The quality of the partner producers, the mastery of the selection of the tasting committee and the maturing process allow us to have a regular quality over the years while respecting the typicality of the terroir and the expectations of consumers.
