Our oenologists' opinion
Powerful bouquet
The open nose reveals notes of candied pepper, blueberry coulis and candied blackcurrant.
The supple, satiny attack is marked by tension and finesse, with fat tannins and medium body.
The wine has a spicy character, with a hint of red fruit.
The satiny finish is characterised by velvety tannins, tension, fatness and a pleasant persistence on aromas of red fruit gratins.

Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
Beychevelle means "lower the sail" in old French. It is said to be linked to Jean-Louis Nogaret de la Valette who demanded that ships, as a sign of homage, lower their sails when passing his castle.

Chateau Beychevelle
Château Beychevelle's land covers 250 hectares, of which approximately 90 are planted with vines. The heart of the vineyard is located on two plateaus of deep Garonne gravel from the Güntz era on the banks of the Gironde, the preferred terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon.
Viticulture: Integrated vineyard management and organic farming for 13 of the vineyards. No herbicides are used. Harvesting is manual and selective according to the grape varieties, the age of the vines and the terroir.
Vinification: The vinification is made to measure according to the vintage. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months for Beychevelle and 12 months for Amiral de Beychevelle. Château Beychevelle is aged in 50% new barrels and Amiral de Beychevelle in 30%. The wine is then fined with egg whites with traditional "candlelight" racking. The wines are bottled in the spring. -
