Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Winey nose with a warm hint of candied fruit, bay leaf sauce, hints of liquorice and cooked prunes.

Well-balanced, full-bodied, frank, warm, sweet, character of prunes in brandy, liquorice, undergrowth, hint of roasting, fairly supple tannins.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine d'Aussières

Altan d’Aussières is named after a wind coming from the depths of the sea. It is the wild child of Aussières, bringing a breeze of freshness. For this exclusive blend, the grapes were harvested from the coolest areas of the estate, where the grapes ripen slowly and develop their aromas gradually. 40% of the wine is made using carbonic maceration, giving it its unique profile of purity and unparalleled lightness.

The wine is aged for 6 to 8 months in tank with an additional 6 months in bottle, allowing the subtle aromas to set. No barrels are used for this cuvée, which aims to express aromatic freshness and the fruit’s exuberance. The blend consists of Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan, each making up about one-third
