Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

A deep orange colour with coppery highlights, clear and brilliant.

The nose is rich and open, with hints of smoke, cereals and cigars, enhanced by vanilla, spices and a hint of dried figs.

On the palate, the attack is round, delicious and powerful, with good balance.

The sweetness and volume harmonise, giving way to an assertive character of tobacco and spice, underlined by hints of roasted coffee and caramel.

The powerful, racy finish lingers on notes of cigar, smoke, thyme and chilli, with a firm, elegant touch of coffee bean.

  • Keeping level Ready to drink
  • Service temperature 16°

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

In 1263, King Alexander III of Scotland was saved from certain death in a stag attack by Colin Fitzgerald, the first ancestor of the Mackenzies clan.

In gratitude, he received a castle and titles of nobility, represented by a royal stag. It is in reference to this family and this illustrious ancestor's act of bravery that the bottles are now adorned with a representation of a royal stag's head.

Production: Ageing takes place in bourbon casks (50%) and Oloroso sherry casks (50%) for a period of 12 years.

Once the whisky has matured, the different types of casks are blended and rest for an additional 4 months to enhance the harmony and marriage of flavours.
