Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

Situated in the south-west of Scotland, the Isle of Islay is renowned for producing some of the country's smokiest and peatiest single malts. It also has the largest number of distilleries per square metre in the country, with almost a dozen still in operation.

Domain and appellation

  • Laphroaig

Founded in 1815 by Donald Johnston, the Laphroaig distillery has belonged to the Beam Suntory group since 2006, already the owner of well-known brands such as Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark.

    • Distillery: The Laphroaig distillery is located on the island of Islay in Scotland.

    • Production: This Single Malt, non-chill filtered, undergoes double maturation in ex-Bourbon casks. Initially aged like all Laphroaig whiskies, it is then transferred to small casks called "Quarter Casks".
