Domain and appellation

  • Château de Laubade

Founded in 1870, the first owner of Castle Laubade was Joseph Noulens, former Ambassador of France in St. Petersburg and Minister of War, Finance and Agriculture in the government of Georges Clemenceau. Today the estate belongs to the Lesgourgues family, who have owned it since 1974.

    • Terroir: Located on the terroir of Bas Armagnac Armagnac Sorbets, this area of 105 hectares is based on soil tawny sands and boulbènes. Laubade Castle is one of the few properties to cultivate the four traditional grapes of the appellation: Ugni Blanc, Baco, Colombard and Folle Blanche.

    • Viticulture: Environmentally conscious, the field practices sustainable agriculture.

    • Vinification: Vintage Armagnacs are made 100% from a single harvest and distillation. Château de Laubade sells their vintages after a minimum of 15 years aging in oak barrels of Gascony.
