Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

White gold with pale green highlights. Rather discreet, medium-sized bubbles, not very long-lasting. The nose is open and frank, with notes of white flowers and breadcrumbs and a hint of minerality. Supple attack, with bubbles that burst quickly. Character with hawthorn and notes of lilac, hint of white pepper. Sappy finish, fairly balanced, medium persistence, fine finish.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • MAISON BOUVET-LADUBAY

Founded in 1851 by Etienne Bouvet, the son of a cooper, Bouvet-Ladubay is a veritable monument to the history of fine Loire bubbles. Over 160 years of history and passion, the company from Saumur has produced a number of vintages with unrivalled expertise, all under Etienne Bouvet's motto of Excellence. Situated in the heart of the Saumur A.O.C. at Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent, this ancient house is famous for its 8 kilometres of cellars dug into the tufa rock. In 2015, the house was bought by the Monmousseau family. Winegrowing: Bouvet-Labuday sources its grapes from around a hundred partner winegrowers.
